On a humorous note, his entertaining description of his preconceived notions of Americans, including Texans as wealthy oil well owners wearing cowboy boots and hats, who have "promiscuous wives with big hair." As a lifelong Texan, I can vouch that immigrants are not the only ones with this stereotypical view, thanks to the popular television series, Dallas. Master's portrayal of himself as a teenager listening to Michael Jackson's Thriller and learning to moonwalk with his friends is also amusing.
- That is quite amusing. A book with humor always goes down well with me. I can't wait to read it. Excellent review. Thank you.

Your portrayal of the book's themes and Master's storytelling style has left me eager to explore the pages myself. I appreciate your balanced observations, especially noting the humor in Master's depiction of American stereotypes.

Ali Master's portrayal of the American Dream as a mindset rather than a demographic trait is a refreshing perspective. The book's seamless blend of humor and introspection made it an enjoyable and thought-provoking read. Master's unique narrative style invites readers to reflect on their own understanding of identity and belonging.
I believe in something greater than myself.

This book seems entertaining and inspiring. The author shares his experience as an immigrant in the USA. I like that he shares a bit about his Pakistani culture and what it was like to grow up in a devout Shia Muslim home. This book is perfect for immigrants in America.

The author's lived experience spanning over three decades in the United States and additional time in other nations adds a valuable global context to his narrative. This broader perspective enriches the discussion on immigration and the evolving nature of the American Dream.

I believe I would be able to relate to many of the references of culture shock as well as glean some insight of the American way of life. Thanks for the awesome review!

As a U.S. citizen, I'm always curious about how people from other countries view America. I'm looking forward to reading this memoir. Great review!

Thought-provoking and engaging through to the last page, today's BOTD is a memoir about the American Dream, written from the POV of a Pakistani Muslim immigrant. Having spent 32 yrs in the US and 19 yrs in 3 other nations, the author has a wealth of knowledge to share with readers about what it means to be American. I'm most excited to read Part 2...I think this is going to be a great book! Thank you!! :-)

It would be educational to read this book about growing up in Pakistan in the Muslim faith and then immigrating to the USA and discovering Christianity and the abundant freedoms of America. Put this on your reading list if you are interested in religious immigrant biographies. I enjoyed your informative book review.

In all honesty, I enjoy listening to the stereotypes that non-American citizens have; it opens my eyes to what other people are taught about Americans. I would like to hear more about Ali's experience in America. Thanks for the review!
