Thank you for your great review. I'm glad you enjoyed the book. It sounds like those who enjoy science fiction books will enjoy this one and it is also edited well. This is not a genre I choose, so it is not one for me. I'm sure many others will also be glad to read it like you were with all of the great descriptions.

To be honest I don't think reading a sci-fi book is what I need right now. The review was okay but the big scientific terms used made me get so lost in the reading that I had to start checking people's comments to understand what was happening. Regardless I congratulate the author for winning BOTD.

I found "Time Before Time" to be an interesting but average read with an interesting premise that unfortunately fell short in the execution. I'm rating this book based on the sample provided. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The concept of time travel to prehistoric times and an ancient lost civilization is intriguing. However, the writing itself felt flat, with too much telling rather than showing.

The beginning introduced the two main characters - scientist Emerson Whitmore and his bodyguard John Chantry. Their dialogue gave background information but lacked personality. When Emerson revealed his invention of a time machine, John's reaction of simply saying "Wow" felt unbelievable given the magnitude of this supposed discovery.

The explanation of how the time machine worked with magnets and relativity was a smart attempt at grounding the fantasy concept in real science. Yet it strained credulity without going into greater technical detail. And the subsequent preparations for their first trip barely scratched the surface of what would be involved in pioneering time travel.

On the positive side, the tantalizing prologue promises an epic scope to the story. The premise of a lost civilization destroyed by a cataclysm has great series potential if executed properly over future books. But based on this first installment, I worry the author may struggle with bringing such an ambitious vision fully to life.

Ideally, "Time Before Time" shows creativity but needs work on its realism and character development. With better dialogue, more attention to technical and logistical details, and deeper point of view writing, it could become a truly thrilling time travel adventure. As is, its flaws keep it to an average 4-star book despite the originality of concept. I would still mildly recommend giving it a chance if you enjoy the time travel genre. Just don't expect an exceptionally polished or immersive read. With effort, this could someday make a great series; for now, it's a moderately entertaining time killer.

Interesting sci-fi book with military setting. I definitely want to vicariously experience the scene building and the character development. Im curious on what happen to John after accepting the job as bodyguard to professor Whitmore which is he will earn four times higher than his previous job.
