“A Compromising Position” by Diane Merrill Wigginton is a diabolical story about relationships and the campaign for Governor of Florida by Russell Tillman. Catherine, a woman with a 15- year plan she developed with her grandmother before she died became Tillman’s campaign manager after Chase was fired at a team meeting for the declining public interest in Tillman for governor. Another member of the team named Patricia expected to get the campaign manager job and will do anything to get the job including digging up dirt on Catherine. Patricia’s goal is to marry Tillman after he wins even though he is married to Angela. Catherine is totally focused on her career and does not have time for relationships. Then, an Australian surfer named Jake, moved into the condo next to hers in New Syrma, FL. One needs to read the book to learn if a relationship develops with Jake and what will Patricia do to get her fired and if successful will she end up in a relationship with Tillman? I look forward to reading the remainder of this well-written book to learn answers to these questions.

A Compromising Position is a great romance! I'm not too fond of romance books as I prefer thrillers, but this one was the perfect mix of sweet and crazy. Jake and Catherine are complete opposites, but opposites attract so they say. It’s an enemies-to-lovers romance, and they have great chemistry. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and the plot outside the romance. There’s some tension and suspense that keep the story going. I'm glad that Catherine later realized what she wanted: if her life should just be her work or love too. This book also didn't have a whole ton of angst, which I'm grateful for. I would give this a 5/5, it was really nice!

I've always loved a good romance novel, and this one intrigues me because Catherine reminds me of myself since I am also very career driven. I also like that the characters have good chemistry without being smutty. Lastly, when I started reading your review, I expected to read that Catherine would fall in love with her boss, but I'm glad that's not the case – that would have been too predictable. Thanks for the review. I'll gladly take a look at the book.

Choosing between striving for a great career and falling in love for not being lonely seems to be a dilemma for Catherine Lawrence, the protagonist of this romantic story.

I'm not really one for romances but this one however does sound intriguing. I like the fact that Catherine is a strong, independent and fierce woman that has a goal in life. I'm quite excited to see if she will manage to juggle work and love successfully and whether Jake can stick through the challenges. Thanks for a detailed and interesting review. Congrats on BOTD.

Title: A Compromising Position
Author: Diane Merrill Wigginton
Genre: Romance

Review:

A Compromising Position by Diane Merrill Wigginton delivers a delightful romantic tale set against the backdrop of the competitive world of politics. The story follows the journey of Catherine Lawrence, a successful campaign manager, who, despite her professional accomplishments, grapples with loneliness. The narrative takes an interesting turn with the introduction of Jake, an attractive Aussie surfer, who becomes a potential love interest for Catherine.

One of the strengths of the book lies in the skillful crafting of Catherine and Jake's relationship. The author seamlessly weaves together scenes of their budding romance, creating palpable tension through stolen glances and playful banter. The chemistry between the characters is not only sensual but tastefully presented, making it a highlight of the story. The reader becomes invested in their relationship, eager to discover if there's more to their connection beyond physical attraction.

A Compromising Position earns a well-deserved 5/5 stars for its captivating portrayal of Catherine and Jake's romance, the emphasis on Catherine's political career, and its overall entertainment value. This book is recommended for readers who enjoy immersive and well-balanced romance novels that go beyond the conventional tropes. Diane Merrill Wigginton has delivered a compelling and engaging story that will resonate with a wide audience of romance enthusiasts.

Thank you for your great review. This sounds like a nice romance novel. I do like the romance genre, but prefer without erotic, and this one sounds like it is one that I would like. I also like that Catherine tells Jake that her work is her priority and that she doesn't just drop it for a guy. After reading your review, I decided to add this to my list of books to read.

Such a beautiful book cover that exemplifies love, happiness and peace. Catherine seems to be a workaholic, whose main focus is about business, that's until Jake shows up in her life. I'm a sucker for romance novel so I'm definitely adding this to my must-read list for 2024. Congrats to the author for receiving the BOTD honor.
