Review of The North Factor
Sonya and Trey are married. As a gift, Trey gives Sonya a watch that she finds odd, but she wears it anyway. She receives a text from Becky, whom she thought was dead. Becky was mute because of damage to her temporal lobe. To make matters worse, she is also dying from cancer. Sonya fears that Trey’s presence might remind Becky that she will never marry. Trey reluctantly agrees to let Sonya travel to Nevada without him. Sonya promises to call him throughout the trip. In Utah, she calls him and says she will let him know when she checks into a hotel. Hours later, Trey hadn’t received a call. He tries calling her multiple times but never receives an answer. The following morning, despite his calls and texts, he still failed to receive an answer.
Sonya was filling her gas tank when three black SUVs arrived, and she is hit by a tranquilizer dart. When she wakes up, she learns she is at Driscoll State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Hayden, a guard at the hospital, and Sonya attempt to remove the watch Trey gave her. Giving up, Hayden escorts Sonya to Dr. Bookout’s office. He claims she has amnesia, and her name is Elle Dupont. While in the cafeteria, she meets Judy. She has a similar story to Sonya’s. Judy and Sonya become friends and discuss Judy’s motorcycle club, the Night Mares. Judy offers to take Sonya with her when they break her out of the hospital.
The North Factor, a novel by Ben Schneider, is the sequel to Chrome Mountain. The character development of Sonya continues to show how strong and independent she is. Trey’s watch becomes vital in several of the scenes, as Sonya finds it holds a secret that saves her life. She faces off against a man who is more dangerous than her ex-boyfriend, Levi. Sonya has become a target for the Scythe terrorists. A group that deals with human trafficking, drugs, guns, and murder proves to be a bigger threat than Sonya expects. Several plot twists make the story unpredictable while building suspense. Well developed supporting characters add depth to the story. The vigilante groups she encounters amplify Sonya’s strengths.
I encountered a few errors in the book; however, they did not affect my overall enjoyment of The North Factor. Therefore, I rate this fast-action story 5 out of 5 stars. Multiple shocking revelations throughout the book made it impossible to put the book down. The vivid details made it easy to envision each event.
The North Factor will appeal to fans of action stories featuring a strong biker woman. This book contains some profanity and violence that may offend some readers. Even though it is a sequel, the plot of The North Factor is strong enough to be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

It seems like a big enough threat for me, so Sonya must be one truly tough woman. It's too bad her husband seems to have nefarious intentions.
You crafted a brilliant opening paragraph! Great review!
