The review is well written. Writing about his experiences is appreciated. Even if it is not suitable for me. The book sheds some light on bipolar disease and its effects which makes it a good choice for reading. Congrats on BOTD

Teetering on a Tightrope: My Bipolar Journey is a memoir by Steven W. Wilson. I do wonder how people who have been sexually abused overcome that trauma. I don't think I can bear to read the events of the author's life. Congratulations on a great book and BOTD.

Teetering on a Tightrope: My Bipolar Journey by Steven W. Wilson sounds intense yet enlightening. The intergenerational aspect of mental health and the honest portrayal of his struggles and society's backdrop make me curious to dive into his story.

I have always had a feeling that living with such a disease that affects your mental health is disastrous and one may never live normally. However, hearing a different, positive story from a victim is so intriguing. Congrats on the author!

It is quite an assaultive tragedy,my empathy to the writer,i feel flat thou it should have ended on a happy ending, people are damn cruel. Besides the antagonist must have been a gay or belongs to such and quite a saddist, causing a disheartening age long event.
It may have been a family trait being recessive or a dominant DNA in the family, atimes mood swings set in for failed or unachieved purpose but to the extent of being maniacal or manic is a questionable illment or a state of bipolic disordered.
It is advisable to avoid unfriendly crowd or underage moving without loved ones on certain events or occasions where they can be included or inclusive

Steven W. Wilson’s memoir candidly explores his lifelong struggle with bipolar disorder. From childhood trauma to family history, Wilson reflects on the impact of mental health issues. Despite some happier moments, the overall tone remains somber due to the constant battle with bipolar disorder.
The book receives praise for its engaging narrative and thoughtful exploration of inherited struggles . 🌟

I commend the author for sharing his life story; mental health issues are very sensitive topics to discuss in a book and many readers will be able to relate and be enlightened about how a bipolar person faced challenges brought about by the condition.

One can say his mental illness emanated from the sexual abuse in his growing up age. Can we also agree that mental illness is hereditary being that his children had mental health issues? Questions to be answered by medical science.

“Teetering on a Tightrope: My Bipolar Journey” by Steven W. Wilson is a memoir of the author’s life and his battles with bi-polar depression. He was sexually molested at 9 in the bathroom of a movie theatre and this changed his life. His first bout of depression occurred while in 4th grade when he suddenly did not care about academics or athletics. He wrote a note to himself and hid it in his drawer at home. He completed 5th grade without being held back but his mental health continued to deteriorate. He was not diagnosed with a mental health problem until he was an adult and a doctor told him he had type 2 bipolar depression. Steven wrote this memoir when he was 73 and he discussed the mental health issues in his family including his mother, his brother Tommy and Steven’s three daughters also developed mental issues. Can mental illness be passed on to descendants? This book is definitely for adults interested in bipolar disorders. I felt sad for Steven, his brother and his mom. Steven must have written the book in the early 1970s since he talked about the ongoing Vietnam War, racial segregation and the style changes in clothing at that time. Today bipolar people have help from prescriptions and mental therapy. A sad story that did not dwell on happy times, just the awful negatives experienced by bipolar individuals. Good review.

The review highlights the complexity of mental health struggles and challenges assumptions about the origins of such issues. While the initial trauma experienced by the author played a significant role in his journey with bipolar disorder, the broader context of familial mental health challenges suggests a multifaceted understanding of the condition. By exploring these layers of complexity, the memoir offers readers a more nuanced perspective on mental health and its intricate connections to personal history and genetic inheritance. Great review.

This is a great review from Brendan Donaghy , It is intriguing reading about the mental health struggles from the perspective of one who experienced it. The author had a very challenging life starting from the sexual assault. It baffles me how people can be very cruel.
