Michael R. French's intriguing book "Ghost With Two Hearts" invites readers to take an immersive trip into the alluring world of Japan and crosses cultural boundaries. Fundamentally, the story explores deep themes of identity, human connection, and the never-ending need for atonement.

Led by the persona of a remarkably prosperous software programmer named Adrian Green, we traverse a captivating journey that reveals the intricacies of the human spirit. Even with his successes, Adrian struggles with inner conflict, which creates the perfect backdrop for an engaging story. The complex moral conundrums and cultural insights weaved throughout the book are metaphorically represented by his effort to return a stolen samurai sword to its rightful heir. Adrian's admirable effort dissolves the boundaries between East and West, drawing readers into a realm where the rich fabric of Japanese cultural history collides with resentful spirits. The house he is renting from a retired Shinto priest is haunted by the spirit of a lonely, disgraced young lady named Emiko, and a male poltergeist who is full of resentment is determined to harm him.

It's a really enjoyable novel to read. I find French's perspective on ghosts particularly fascinating. You get a little scared at first, but you quickly get over it, laugh, and go back in. In my opinion, many readers can also relate to French's protagonist. Maybe not in terms of employment or money, but more in terms of feeling excluded from the world, trying to figure out how to live a happy life, and bearing the burden of our ancestors' transgressions. The contrast it makes between the main character and their surroundings is intriguing.

Readers are transported to this mysterious and ancient place through Michael R. French's rich words, which reflect his deep respect for Japan. The story is authentically infused by the author, creating a fully engaging reading experience. The plot keeps you wondering right up to the very end, and the characters are well-developed. Their hardships and victories struck a deep chord with me; the characters seemed like old friends. The captivating writing style of French makes it difficult to put the book down. This book has just one minor grammatical error. I have no reason to dislike this book and would like to rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

For those who enjoy stories that stay with them long after the last page is turned, "Ghost with Two Hearts" is a must-read because of its vividly rendered story and moving style. Highly recommend!
