It's so ironic how some folks can show outrage and treat animals, who share little or no kin to us, way better than they'll do their fellow being. It's sad, it's terrible, and it's a reality in our society. Marie's story reminds me of Jeanne in Helpers Anonymous, who experienced similar abuse because of her disability, also. I want to read Marie's story in the "Voiceless," but I'm not sure my rich, sensitive heart can stomach any more ill-treatment of disabled persons anyway. It makes me want to take up their cause and knock some heads together. Congrats Marie for bagging #BOTD. Keep scaling!

Thank you for this insightful review of "Voiceless" by Marie McCreadie. The way you highlighted Marie's resilience in the face of such a profound challenge is truly inspiring. It is heartbreaking to read about the mistreatment she endured from those who should have been her supporters, especially from the religious figures in her life. The fact that she continued to strive and find ways to communicate, despite the obstacles, speaks volumes about her strength and determination.

Your mention of the diary-like honesty and the detailed experiences she shared really makes me want to dive into this book. It's shocking to think about how people with disabilities can be so misunderstood and mistreated, and Marie's story seems to shine a necessary light on these issues. I appreciate that you pointed out the positive role of her parents and the practical solution they found with the whistle, which shows their supportive yet overwhelmed stance.

The part where you mention her social life and her love for music and dancing, contrasted with her difficulty in keeping up with conversations, really puts the reader in her shoes. It's an eye-opener to the daily challenges faced by someone who loses such a fundamental ability. Your review does a great job of conveying the emotional and societal hurdles Marie faced, and I can see why you gave it a full 5-star rating. This book is now definitely on my reading list!

Great review! Back then, nuns and priests would come up with the most incredible excuses for the things that happened to people. It was always about people being punished for evil doings.

This is a really amazing memoir of the challenges this author grew up with. The fact that she never let the negative comments bring her down is the most endearing aspect for me. I'm glad she stayed strong.

It looks the book contains the author's experiences and the challenges she had to face from losing her voice. Her disability did not stop her from doing the best she could. I look forward to reading it. Thank you for your review!

It is heartbreaking that priests and nuns who are meant to console Marie are the ones ridiculing her. Can’t wait to read this interesting book.

Voiceless by Marie McCreadie got me really emotional. It is one thing to be born unable to speak and another to suddenly not be able to speak. My heart went out to the author. This is a good book. Congratulations on BOTD.

In "Voiceless," Marie McCreadie recounts her teenage years when a severe illness rendered her permanently mute, describing the harsh treatment and accusations she faced from peers and adults and the emotional and psychological challenges she endured while communicating through writing.

I'm sorry to hear that. But whoever finds himself in such situations must be very intuitive to call on health practitioners before it gets worse. Congratulations to Voiceless on becoming the book of the day.

I'm humbled by Marie's parents, who gave her a whistle which she could use in case she ran into trouble. This is testament of how parents should care for their children, no matter how different they seem to be. Thanks for the review.

I’m looking forward to digging into this novel to find out how author coped with her disability amidst the bullying and disheartening reactions from the different sectors in her community. I commend the author for sharing her story.

I'm sure that the author must have gone through much more than she wrote in the pages of this book. It's sad to know that there are people who would still be heartless to a child in need. I would love to know more about how she overcame these obstacles. This is an excellent recommendation.

I appreciated the book cover and how the title is presented down the woman’s throat - very appropriate and visual. This memoir reads fluidly like fiction even though it is the real-life, and sometimes horrible, experiences of the author.

It is undoubtedly a moving content. She confronted us with the trauma she had in her life through this real piece. Reading about how some nuns and priests made her feel inferior by mistaking her illness for God's wrath shocked me deeply. It was really awful. Marie has not only shared her heart through her book, but she has also inspired people who have been negatively impacted by life to rise beyond it. It's a really inspirational and uplifting story. I'll make sure to get this.
