Entanglement by Evan Frank is a thriller about the quantum computing race between China and the United States. China has just successfully transported an entangled photon over a vast distance using a satellite. The United States, feeling that they are falling behind, gathers its top people to come up with a response. This response will include submarines, science labs, and much more. The people involved will include submarine captains, physicists, government officials, a single mother of two, and many others. Every person will play their part to ensure that the USA stays ahead in the quantum computing arena.
I really enjoyed this book. Despite being a new novelist, Frank does an excellent job of creating characters. He takes his time to include details that make each person real and unique. This is important because it makes the reader emotionally involved with the plot. I found myself wanting things to work out not only for the US but also for all the individuals involved. The plot was engaging and provided details about quantum computing and life on a submarine. But the characters are really what made this book enjoyable to read.
Unfortunately, the book has a few flaws. The author admits that he didn’t hire an editor for the book, and it shows. There are numerous grammatical issues with the book. I wouldn’t say they ruined the story, but they were distracting. I would also argue that the plot could use some spice. A few more things going wrong would increase the suspense of the story. Things became a little too predictable by the end of the book.
I give the book a rating of 4 out of 5. I really did enjoy the story and the characters. I can’t give full marks because of the editing issues. I think that anyone who likes science or military thrillers will enjoy this novel.

From what I’ve gathered, this thriller delves into the high-stakes world of quantum computing and international rivalry. The plot involves a race between China and the United States, with a variety of characters including physicists and military personnel, each playing a crucial role. While the story sounds engaging and full of potential, the author’s focus on character development seems to be a highlight, making the book more immersive. However, it seems the pacing could have benefited from more conflict and unpredictability. Despite a few grammatical issues, this novel sounds like a solid read for fans of science and military thrillers.
