I can be both a proper name and a common noun.
I can be millions of years old.
I'm connected to electricity.

Not eels. It's not an animated being.

Not a magnet.
Hint: the proper noun is a person's name. Usually a female

I don't mean to split hairs, but per your clue, is it millions of years old or billions of years old. The difference may be important to understanding the clue correctly; for instance, millions might pertain to the dinosaurs, but billions could pertain to the cosmos.

You are right. Most of it is 30-90 million years old

@María Andrea Fernández Sepúlveda

I didn't look up how old it is so I'm just taking a wild guess based on something I learned in a high school industrial arts class regarding a mineral used for electrical insulation. I also know that it is a name, but I don't know if it is male or female.

Could it be Mica ?

Not Mica. Though I admit it fits the clues. Great guess!
Hint #2: I play an important role in the House M.D. tv series
