I envy people who say they grew up curious. I always wondered if the curiosity they speak about is the same one we all had as kids, as to why water was wet or why birds fly, or if the refrigerator light stays on after the door is closed, or if they speak of something so different, so otherworldly.

The MISOGI Method by Jody B. Miller is a transformational self-help book that teaches and encourages readers to push past their limitations and step outside of their comfort zones in order to live their best lives. We would never know what is on the other end of the risk plate until we have taken the risk. The word "misogi" is "mih-sew-ghea," a Japanese Shintō purification ritual by washing the entire body in cold water. The book is divided into five parts, all of which are great steps to learning how to achieve lasting happiness. Following the Japanese ritual, the author explains the difference between rituals and traditions and between a ritual and a habit. The general idea of a misogi is to take up challenges that are beyond your comfort zone. Read The MISOGI Method by Jody B. Miller for a transformative journey.

I loved the list of games the author played that was added to the book. I may be too old for some of them, but there is a younger generation coming up that I'd love to see play outside, having human interactions instead of being on the phone. The author mentioned how being outside at a young age to play these games helped develop his leadership and entrepreneurial skills. Most of these games we played as kids require a certain number of players, where these players have to form teams, create winning strategies, build trust with team members, ponder ideas, accept inputs from team members, and develop creative ideas, all of which are skills needed to survive in the adult world. Above all else, these plays help the kids develop lasting happiness and core memories. I loved the quotes and pictures that were added; it made reading the book more of an experience and a journey for me. I love the activity and reflective sections that help internalize the teachings in the book.

This was a great read, and I am glad I had the opportunity to read it. This is a self-help book, but from a whole different angle than I have seen self-help books. I do not have any areas to criticize about the book. The editing was perfectly done. I give the book a perfect rating of five out of five stars. If you want to transform your life to live a more fulfilling life, then I recommend this book to you. The misogi is less about achieving and more about becoming. Enjoy your journey to becoming your most evolved self.
