Penny Palabras by James Willard

Post by Darling_Reads »

This is a really excellent graphic novel. It was very entertaining. First, I would like to say that the story is well developed. The art in the graphic novel is also amazing. The two elements were so perfectly matched that this graphic novel will be enjoyed by many.

Penny Palabras is a teenage girl that is faced with her future. She is fighting her demons. The story is very relatable. Everyone goes through a point where they are faced with demons and have to make decisions that they know will affect themselves later.

The story was just kind of perfect because everyone has nightmares and moments that Penny metaphorically experiences in this book. I personally thought this book was extra great because when I was a teenage girl I had nightmares and problems sleeping. My mother was sick with cancer and I was fighting my own personal demons at that time. I ended up feeling like a loner at school. It was boring because it was so easy and I missed so many days I got kicked out. When I read the novel I felt like the author wrote this book about me. It made me feel like my reality wasn't as crazy as I once thought it was. I really enjoyed this book and even if you didn't have this same experience it is a great read.

I give it 4 out of 4 stars and look forward to reading all of James B. Willards works.
