After all what is a young adult?
One is either young 'or' adult.
The book whilst enjoyable, was simple in its layout with more focus on the story and less on the depth, the descriptive passages than I as an adult think enriches a good novel.
I enjoyed it, but I felt I was slumming, if that makes sense.

Yes. It is for 'young adults', find something for adults.RebekaV wrote:I'm kind of reserved about this series. I haven't started reading it yet and am not sure if I should. Is it worth it, or will it turn out to be another Twilight?

I really enjoyed the storyline and found it to be extremely engaging, I fell in love with the characters and their struggles and I really thought the whole concept of the dystopian sci-fi world it was based in was really fascinating and quite realistic, and therefore just really had a ball whilst I was reading it.
My only issue is that some of the characters I found where unrealistic or unreasonable, as well as some of the situations Tris found herself in throughout the story. Although the back story about the fighting between Abnegation and Erudite was really well-done, I found that as I got further into the story with more 'detail' Tris's enemies had less of a purpose and where more just 'there' being evil for no particular reason.
I've read the book twice now and I fell in love with it both times, but I feel like with that whole unrealisticness (compared to the rest of the story) it ruins it for me a little. I think Veronica might have been under a bit of pressure when finishing the book or something, but I just feel like she didn't spend enough time going over it and smoothing it out so that there weren't any kinks or anything.
Otherwise, I loved it. Relatable characters, interesting plot, great backstory and location and the perfect mix of dystopian and sci-fi really did it for me.
Would recommend it to anyone who likes to escape from the regular world every once in a while.

Agreed. I really liked this one the most out of the three books in the series, the last one is a disappointment thoughAnnieFulton wrote:I would give this book a 4 out of 5 review. It was pretty predictable, but still intriguing and tantalizing. I think the book works well as a stand alone novel without the other two books.

I watched the movie first and then read the book and I was so disappointed by the movie and felt that the book was way better than the movie. This is the first time I read a book after a movie and I liked the book. I didn't like the second book as much as the first and the last one is a huge disappointmentamansmith wrote:I read Divergent when I heard it was going to be made into a movie. I liked the book and thought it was a good read. I liked the characters and what they had to go through to become who they were meant to be, but when I started looking at the other books in the series I found out how everything ended. Well I don't want to ruin the series for anyone else just in case they don't like to know what happens ahead of time so I will just say that I didn't like the ultimate outcome and I could not bring myself to read the other books because of that. I enjoy happily ever after endings and I don't think this series has that so even though I liked Divergent I couldn't bring myself to read anything else.
