One of the YA series that is worth the read, although i was definitely not happy with the way Roth ended the third book. The first two books are pretty awesome and I would recommend just be prepared for terrible ending

I'm kind of reserved about this series. I haven't started reading it yet and am not sure if I should. Is it worth it, or will it turn out to be another Twilight?

I usually find books written for 'young adults' to be books for children.
After all what is a young adult?
One is either young 'or' adult.
The book whilst enjoyable, was simple in its layout with more focus on the story and less on the depth, the descriptive passages than I as an adult think enriches a good novel.
I enjoyed it, but I felt I was slumming, if that makes sense.

Yes. It is for 'young adults', find something for adults.

I would happily recommend Divergent to anyone, but i couldn't say that its really good series in my opinion because it ends on a sort of cliff hanger and the second and third book weren't really as interesting as the first.

I really love to read series, so I was pretty excited about this one. I really enjoyed reading this book, it was well written. It have substance to it with some really meaty characters.

I absolutely loved divergent. The story was told well. I like the descriptions of the characters, it's as if I can clearly see them in my mind. I fell in love with them. The plot was layed out well. I would have liked to have seen into the mind of Four a little more. The factions and there differences seemed a little confusing at times but overall I understood them. I would have liked more on the romance side as per my tastes, but the love story itself was great for the teens.

I am glad I chose to read Divergent when I seen it at the bookstore. This book was one of the best books I have read in a while. I remember thinking to myself, "Man! This would be a really good movie." Unfortunately movies are never exactly like the books. I loved that there was plenty of action with a touch of romance. By the end of this book I was beyond excited for book number 2.

Divergent would be a 3/4 for me.
I really enjoyed the storyline and found it to be extremely engaging, I fell in love with the characters and their struggles and I really thought the whole concept of the dystopian sci-fi world it was based in was really fascinating and quite realistic, and therefore just really had a ball whilst I was reading it.
My only issue is that some of the characters I found where unrealistic or unreasonable, as well as some of the situations Tris found herself in throughout the story. Although the back story about the fighting between Abnegation and Erudite was really well-done, I found that as I got further into the story with more 'detail' Tris's enemies had less of a purpose and where more just 'there' being evil for no particular reason.
I've read the book twice now and I fell in love with it both times, but I feel like with that whole unrealisticness (compared to the rest of the story) it ruins it for me a little. I think Veronica might have been under a bit of pressure when finishing the book or something, but I just feel like she didn't spend enough time going over it and smoothing it out so that there weren't any kinks or anything.
Otherwise, I loved it. Relatable characters, interesting plot, great backstory and location and the perfect mix of dystopian and sci-fi really did it for me.
Would recommend it to anyone who likes to escape from the regular world every once in a while.

I would recommend this book, however I feel the other two books in the series didn't live up to the expectations set in the first book.

I'm really glad that Divergent was made book of the month because it gave me incentive to pick up a book I otherwise may have passed up due to the commercial hype. What I immediately found attractive about Roth's writing style is her "in medias res" approach.

I watched the movie Divergent first and then decided to read the book. I never read a book of which I have seen the movie but this one was an exception and I am glad I did. I really liked the book better than the movie and really enjoyed it! I read the Insurgent as well and it was good but not as good as Divergent and I am stuck at Allegiant because I have lost interest in it but plan to finish it this November

Agreed. I really liked this one the most out of the three books in the series, the last one is a disappointment though :-(

I liked the characters and what they had to go through to become who they were meant to be, but when I started looking at the other books in the series I found out how everything ended. Well I don't want to ruin the series for anyone else just in case they don't like to know what happens ahead of time so I will just say that I didn't like the ultimate outcome and I could not bring myself to read the other books because of that. I enjoy happily ever after endings and I don't think this series has that so even though I liked Divergent I couldn't bring myself to read anything else.
I watched the movie first and then read the book and I was so disappointed by the movie and felt that the book was way better than the movie. This is the first time I read a book after a movie and I liked the book. I didn't like the second book as much as the first and the last one is a huge disappointment :(

Nah, it isn't like Twilight. Way better!

I rated it a three and would recommend it to most people that I know. The idea of the factions is what caught my eye originally, due to being into sociology. The world building was also great and I found the characters to be enjoyable, especially Four and Tris.

The books divergent in my opinion was a really good book. When I first heard the synopsis I expected another Hunger Games wannabe books. But I must admit it was a really good novel though the movie didn't do it justice. I can't wait to get my hands on the second book.
