Help suggest a book or two

Post by LaurenFaust »

Hi,
Lauren here. Mother, cat person.

I like scary books. Stephen King, Dean Koontz, F. Paul Wilson.
I also like odd, funny books, like Running with Scissors.
Can anyone suggest some good books????

Thanks!

If you like funny books you might try "Salmon Fishing in The Yemen" by Paul Torday ... it's reminiscent of the British TV series "Yes, Minister" if you are familiar with that.

I've just finished another of his books "The Hopeless Life of Charlie Summers" which I also thoroughly enjoyed.

One of my all time favorite funnies is also one of my all time favorite books. I loved Between the Bridge and the River by Craig Fergusson. It was a hilarious and awesome book.

You cant go wrong with The Shining by Stephen King or also The Stand or Carrie or Misery in fact there are loads of King books which would make a great first scary novel.

A good comedy book would be "sh*t my dad says" Kinda a biography bout a guy who lives with his dad after him and his gf break up and he puts up with his hilariously stupid dad. Another one would be "quite honestly" a comedy about a social worker.

Craig Ferguson is pretty funny his new book American On Purpose is worth a read.
The funniest I have found so far must be Chelsea Handler. She is so Freakin funny you will be laughing out loud (a suggestion do NOT under any circumstances read this on public transportaion, you will pee laughing and people are going to think you need some medication, I talk from experience).
She has three books out I only read the first two and waiting to get the third

My Horizontal Life

Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea

Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang (came out recently)
