What to Read Next?

Hey everyone! Just joined this board Looking forward to getting to know everyone here. I'm almost finished with The Help. Its such a great book. I definitely recommend it if you haven't read it already. I'm trying to decide what to read next. I got The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo for Chirstmas. I also have The Hunger Games which I've been wanting to check out. Which should I read next?

Hi and welcome to the forums, personally i would pick the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo as the next book, i found it a fantastic and thrilling adventure and the start of one of the best literary trilogies ever written.

Hi! Not to confuse you, but I would definitely go with The Hunger Games trilogy. I seriously couldn't put it down, and finished all three books in a weekend. Actually, everybody I've lent them to (3 people) have all said the same thing. Within a couple days I get all three books back.

Although, I haven't read Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But I plan to. I've heard it's not as easy to get into as Hunger Games, but it's worth it by about half way through. So we'll see. It's on my "to read" list... along with about 400 others.

Warning about Dragon Tattoo (which you've probably heard), it's SO hard to get into. If you're an American, it's all unfamiliar names/places/etc for the first maybe 1/5th of the book, and it feels awful and almost unreadable. I would have NEVER kept up with that book if a ton of friends hadn't insisted that it was worth it. Well, it is worth it! It's an amazing read, but you have to force yourself through the first part.
Be also warned that it's terribly violent. I have a hard time reading really violent books since becoming a parent. In fact, it was so violent that I haven't read the other two books yet, even though the first was so great... I will read them eventually, but I need some sunshine & butterflies for a while before re-joining the torture chambers.

The Hunger Games was great, too! The first two books were super, just very edge-of-seat type reads. The third was less-so for me, but still good.

It’s funny: I never thought I’d fall in love with a young adult novel, let alone three young adult novels! But that’s just what happened when I came across the Hunger Games. For a long time the young adult genre just irked me. While people were reading Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, I was drowning myself in Faulkner. Be that as it may, The Hunger Games trilogy was a treat to read. I finished all three in the span of no time and look forward to rereading them. So, I recommend you read The Hunger Games. I cannot comment on the Millennium Series as I have not read it. Doesn’t look like my sort of book, though.
