More than ghosts I believe in supernatural entities, but I guess they are one and the same.

Coming from that idea, I think there are different types of ghosts. Those that are indeed spirits from the past, some from the future, and even some from alternate timelines/dimensions. Some aspects may even be just energy in general.
I know some people who don't believe in ghosts, but fond ghost stories and movies absolutely terrifying (my father and brother are both members of that category) and can't read anything that may involve a ghost. I think they are just concerned if they read a story well-written enough, their opinion might change.
As long as the ghosts serve a purpose in the book or movie, rather than just being there for the sake of being there, then I thoroughly enjoy books with ghosts and other supernatural elements.

I've had plenty of weird things happen which I've put down to sleepwalking. I live alone, and at times of stress, have woken up with my pillows piled on the kitchen counter instead of the bed; found myself in the spare room; been unable to find my mobile until it turned up in the fridge.
I think the more interesting question is, do you think you have a choice about these beliefs? I personally think it is ingrained from childhood. No matter how hard I tried to believe in ghosts, or fairies, or God, I don't think I could change the wiring of my brain enough to facilitate it.

I totally think we have a choice, because truth is what is real. Either ghosts exist or they don't. Either God exists or He doesn't. Whether we are willing to recognize those truths or not is really the crux of the matter.Diving doc wrote:I don't believe in ghosts, but I think it's much like religion. There is no proof of anything, only faith and belief to keep it alive.

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for Thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. ~ Psalms 4:8
