My Mom has a Scottish background and my Dad a French one. As I (evidently) got my last name from my Dad, my Mom claimed ownership of the first and middle names! The result is an odd mix of the two cultures.

My parents thought I would be a boy up to a month before I was born so they let my older sister name me. She named me Julie because it means youthful!

My name means be happy for me. When my gave birth to me my dad wasn't around which made her family sad so she told them to be happy for her.

My name is Cortney.. my mom got it from a soap opera she used to watch that had Two ladies named Crystal and Alexis.. my sister's name is Alexis, but my dad refused to let her name me Crystal. Thank goodness for that. :) Alas he liked Cortney, and my mom agreed, so I came to be!

My name is Virginia and yep I was named after the state. My mom thought it was beautiful there and when she gave birth to me she claimed it was like giving birth to the Appalachian mountains D: (even though I was a preemie) My middle name, Ann, is the first name of her best friend as well :)

Well, my parents wanted a unique name for me , so they named me Andaleeb . After a day or two , someone told them that this name sounds more like of a boy . So they changed it from Andaleeb to Darakhshan , still keeping essence of uniqueness .

My dad and mom were at a hospital when a kind nurse walked around and made sure they were right. My dad named me after her. Then, for my middle name, he was walking around the streets of Hawaii when he saw a weird street name, Kapiolani. Apparently, it was the name of a Hawaiian Queen, so he decided to use that for my middle name. Unfortunately, Kapiolani had written a love song for her husband that he did not get to hear, and it's tragic.
