^Yeah, where is the hatred, Fran, you should be having the tomatoes ready for the Queen visit next month! On a serious note, i hope that all of that bitterness is above most people, but as for the Monarch, i still think they get a say in the running of the country in so far as the PM must contact them before making crucial decisions etc but thats still probably few and far between.

I dont really find them as fascinating as a lot of people do, but i guess they bring in the tourists and thats a good thing. They do have a privileged existence from birth to death but i find it funny how they constantly try to appear as of they are superior and prim and proper and without shame-proper ladies and gentlemen- when their family have had more scandals, divorces and bust-ups that the average guest on Jeremy Kyle, they are just like everyone else only with billions more in the bank and a penchant for hunting.

What makes me happy is the Queen finally has begun to pay taxes. For many years the monarchy didn't have to pay taxes. With all that money she had...and the poor people paying instead. Also, thankfully, she paid for a large part of the wedding.

It's sad how the wedding is watched so closely here in the USA, when we've had such trauma with the torradoes here....

My understanding of things is that the Monarchy paid for the wedding and such but it's citizens are paying for security.

I don't think it's sad that so many people are watching the wedding after all it was at 6am plus people need to be distracted even if for a little while. My concern is how quickly will those who are in need right now will be helped. We all saw how terribly things were handled in New Orleans.

Do you fancy him, Fran? I have to say he is a divisive character. When i see him, all i see is a cat....pure and simple- cat's eyes, womans face and womans cheekbones, there isnt a scrap of a man in him but seemingly many women melt in his presence, i dont get him at all. :?

Have you watched The Tudors? Oh there's 'a scrap of a man in him' without doubt ... not really my type but one can look. It's odd though the way he doesn't seem to age at all on The Tudors & I keep seeing the picture of Henry V111 in our history books ... he was a big, fat, ugly guy.
Yuk but Jonathan now ..... swoon .............

Fran you sound like me gushing over Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood) and Richard Armitage (Guy of Gisborne) in BBC's Robin Hood. I know it's off air now, but I have Netflix and rewatch it all the time.

Haha. That reminded me of an incident when I was little. My 4 year old sister decided to get in to Mama's makeup bag play dress up with my cat while everyone else was sleeping. LOL! Gosh it was hilarious! I woke up to the sound of the cat yellin and hollerin, I came into the living room just in time to see her sqwirm out of my sister's grasp and begin an ill-fated atempt at cleaning herself. She had it all wraped up in a baby doll dress, lipstick all over and in it's teeth and mascara all over it's poor face. The poor thing was going crazy licking and pawing to get all that stuff off. Then I was the "lucky" one to get to give the pissed off thing a bath  , becase little sister was "too young to handle her in the tub" or so Mama claimed. Puh-leeeze, she made it sit still long enough to smother it in lipstick, why couldn't she bathe it.

A bit of romantic fairytale magic never goes astray and I think the British royal family certainly knows how to deliver the goods. Congratulations!

Tip the bottle....

This is a step up from the royal wedding in 1981, where the Monarchy didn't pay for anything, and still didn't pay taxes. At least that's what the WSJ (wall street journal) said at the time..

These days I'm sure the Monarchy is still getting the better half of the deal.

I wish I were King, seems like a pretty cool job to have.

Orf with his head....hmm..what, we don't do that anymore you say.
