Dogs definitely have some sort of instinct in pleasing their families.juliusotinyo wrote:There's never been a dog like chowder (my kids named it after the cartoon character) much like you I hated dogs at first. It was not even a playful dog, it just loved sitting next to me or following me around. I never trained it but it always seemed to know what I wanted it to do, like chase after hares and squirrels or just sit.hsimone wrote:Thank you, Fabian Omondi, for reading!Fabian Omondi wrote:Wow thanks for sharing this,am glad I got the opportunity to go through it

I'm so sorry to hear about losing your first dog in a car accident. I appreciate you sharing something so personal.juliusotinyo wrote:Nice to hear about Zoey's story. I have 4 dogs in my farm but am not close to them ever since I lost my first one in a car accident. They are all German shepherds, still its always lovely seeing my wife and kids play with them.
Even with this terrible experience, it's nice to hear that you have dogs for your wife and kids, and they enjoy to play with them. I imagine a farm would be such a great place of German shepherds - all that space to run around! Thank you again for reading and sharing.
I'd warmed up to him within a year and whenever we met after my long travels, always so aloof, he wouldn't respond to my calls but would follow me everywhere. Until one morning he disappeared for 2 days. We found his body about 3km (1 mile) from the farm next to the highway. It wasn't common for him to go so far, left me with many questions.
Thank you for sharing. I'm so sorry that happened. Sometimes I wish animals were able to communicate to let us know what they are thinking.

Thank you for reading, Evike! She is beautiful, inside and out. You're right, she is like our child. A very loyal child. That's amazing that you rescued dogs for nine years. They deserve to find good homes. I can only imagine your experiences (both good and sad situations). Thank you, again, for taking the time to read my story about our little girl.Evike wrote:Hello! Thank you for sharing your beautiful story about Zoey. She is beautiful and l love the pictures you shared with us. Yes, dogs are awesome. They become our kids. They love us unconditionally, without any judgment. I had dogs for years and for 9 years I did rescue them. I saw them in every situation and sometimes it was sad but at the end, it was always good. Thank you for a beautiful story.

As a side note, our little girl just turned five the other day (11/24 - on the day you posted!)! She got an extra yummy treat and a new squeaky toy, which she loves!

When a Dog has a Birthday
When a dog has a birthday, so cynics say,
they have no idea it's their special day,
now maybe there's some truth in what they state,
a dog can have no idea of the date,
nor of how old they are (which perhaps is as well!)
but I still believe that inside they can tell ....
They know it is special, their owner reveals
the joy and the gratitude everyone feels
that their furry friend was born just to be
loved every day in their family,
and know that the presents are given with care
for people are happy just that they're there.
When a dog has a birthday, no-one can disguise
the particular sparkle that comes to their eyes,
and if you have eyes to see you can't fail
to notice the extra wags of the tail,
and nobody, I feel quite sure, ever misses
the extra licks of those warm canine kisses.
When a dog has a birthday, it seems to fill
all of the house with extra goodwill,
does the dog know? I think that he does,
and looks on the humans who cuddle and fuss,
and thinks, but inside, I always knew
it was my birthday when I came to you!
