Good suggestions! I have read the "Orphan Train" and "The Book Thief" and liked them both.

Thank you! I've also read the Orphan Train and The Book Thief, as well as Number the Stars and The Help. I really liked all of them. The others are on my TBR, but I think I already have a book for this month, The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris. It's based a true story of two Jewish people who survived Auschwitz Concentration Camp and made it back home to Australia. I am completely interested in this book and can't wait to start!

The Chess Garden, by Brooks Hansen.

I love this book so much, I don't have the words.

It's reads a little like a biography, and a little like magical realism, and all historical fiction (which isn't my normal preference), and is a journey that I won't soon forget.

I liked The Dark Witch. This is part of a trilogy and is followed by The Shadow Spell and Blood Magick. It's full of magic and witches - so if you're into that kind of thing, you might like this one.

Would you ever consider doing some Egyptian historical fiction? I feel like that could be a new and fun genre. I read a book in this genre some years ago but cannot think of its name (super unhelpful, I know). I am going to try and track it down but I think this could be a cool avenue!

Hm...Egytptian historical fiction? I don't think I've ever read a book in this genre, but I'm a bit reluctant to try, lol. I would be curious to see what an Egytptian historical fiction would be like, though, so if you come across one that you enjoyed, I would love to hear your thoughts!

For a genre option, we could put it up next time we vote and see what happens. I don't know if it's too specific of a genre, or if it's something many would want to try, but we can offer it. The next poll will be in a bit since we had a tie for this month and will be doing the other genre next month. Then, probably a free choice in May. After that, I can add it to the list. The Egyptian by Waltari Mika is a good historical novel that I can recommend. It is a classic that was first written back in the 40's, but don't let its age discourage you - it is a well told story. The protagonist is a physician to the pharaohs who traveled as a spy to Egypt's neighboring empires including the Hittites, Crete's Minoans, Levantin in Syhria and Babylon. This was during the time when steel began to replace bronze.
