I hated Rent. I know everyone else seems to love it but I thought it sucked!

Honestly I didn't care too much for it either. I dunno, it just wasn't my "cup of tea" so to speak.

I'm indifferent towards Rent. Have any of you seen the movie Team America: World Police? It only appeals to certain people. It was made by the guys who make South Park. Anyway, it has a funny scene in it where they parody Rent, and I think the parody is hilarious.

My parents live outside of Stratford (Ontario), so I boycot this! It makes this small rural town so stuffy and stuck up! Plus, I've been to the real Stratford (in England), so I don't get what the fuss is about!

Stratford in England is a very pretty little place, and some of the theaters there, the Swan especially, are a work of art in themselves!

Scott, I love Team America, one of my favourite laugh out loud movies of all time. And that's a great scene.

Maaaaattttt Daaaaammmmooonnn!!

Sorry couldn't resist.

Anyways best play I have seen is Richard III. Shakespeare makes me warm inside. I would love to see more. And I will when I'm older and richer :)

They had a couple dinner theatres in Salt Lake we used to go to. They had live plays and a nice dinner while you watched the play. We saw Play it Again Sam, this version had Bob Denver in the lead. He was giving out autographed pictures of himself and he signed one for us Gilligan. We saw one called 40 Carats with Virginia Mayo, I slobbered and drooled over her, she was one sexy woman and we saw one, I dont remember what it was with that Hutton guy, Timothy Hutton's dad cant remember his first name, he was in the Ellery Queen tv series. He went to Denver to do the same play and he died before the play opened in Denver. We saw his last performance. The first one we saw had Gale Storm, I dont suppose anyone on this forum knows her but she was in My Little Margie, a popular tv series in the 50's. I always liked live plays, there a lot of fun.

I agree and I've seen many over the years but the one which made the biggest impression was "The Mousetrap" a murder mystery adapted from Agatha Christie's book. It has been playing in London for years and years and I think I saw its 54th year run. It's broken all records and the audience are asked not to divulge the ending!

I too love plays & I've attended many over the years, unfortunately one of the downsides of living in a rural area is the lack of live theatre. But I cope by making regular long weekend trips to my sister in 'the big city' & that gives me an opportunity to fit in a few theatre visits. One of the first plays I attended & it made a huge impression on me was Tennessee Williams, The Glass Menagerie.
I'm not a great lover of musicals but Blood Brothers is one I thoroughly enjoyed.

There is an outdoor theatre in Cornwall, England,it is called the Minack Theatre. It's just a few miles from Lands End and it was dug and carved out of the cliff face by an inspirational woman named Rowena Cade, her story is amazing. it is a popular theatre which still runs a full programme today, many famous people have graced the stage there, with William Shakespeare being the most popular playwrite there. If you google it you can find its website, you can read about Rowena Cade, see stunning pictures of the theatre and it's sea views, plus it has a live webcam.

I saw "All Star Wars" lastnight, a musical/play about the main hurling GAA stars in Ireland. Didnt laugh once, even though the whole theatre were in stitches...i found it very corny and the humor basic but Richie Hayes does a mean Davy Fitz, angry spittle and all! I have also seen The Glass, a play about the best days of Waterford Crystal, and found it very good. I do enjoy the theatre and it seems to have replaced the cinema as a hobby of mine. :D :D
