I learned from the review how participatory medicine helped heal Louis from the rare cancer disease. I will consider reading "First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough" by Mark Unger.

I have lost so many friends and family members to cancer that I find it difficult to read about the disease as it brings back too many painful memories. This is a story filled with hope, though.

I loved how Mark shared his experience on Louis journey to survival. This book alone can give hope to those struggling to survive, and to Louis family, I admire them for their love and togetherness. Congrats on being the book of the day.

This true story is such an inspiration! It chronicles the unique journey of Louis Unger and his family as the young boy battles through neuroblastoma, a deadly pediatric cancer. With his courage, determination, family support, advocacy, and medical staff, the five year battle led to a significant breakthrough in how cancer is treated today. Excellent book review!

A commendable review! One must be very strong to be able to write such a book and...even to read it. It brought tears in my eyes.

Cancer stories, especially those affecting children, are such inspirational stories. What makes it more emotional and really heartwarming is Lou's parents love, patience, and care. Also, their observation was the reason for discovering Lou's disease in the first place. Their courage to suggest and ask for a new treatment method actually saved Lou's life.

First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough by Mark Unger unreels the parents' predicaments and persistence to find a cure for their very young son's end stage illness. Their faith and love spun a miracle. Thanks for the overwhelming review.

Having parents face the idea that their child might die of cancer is devastating. When you are a parent, the child depends on you for comfort and help. They have no one else to look after them, but you. I loved your review!

I cannot imagine the hardships parents of children with cancer go through. A story based on this is sure to encourage many.

Mark's determination in trying to make his son better is the highlight of this book. It sends the message that even the littlest hope can bring light. I like your honesty about the book.

First survivor is a very emotional book that brought me to tears. I can only imagine the agony Louis's parents and brother felt, the doctors didn't believe Louis was going to live and survive the disease that is an unexpected plot and it carried and changed the narration of the novel. I enjoyed how his father was there for him and how much he was invested in finding ways to heal him. This book acknowledges the love that parents have for their children despite their state. Louis is a bright kid with a smile that lights up your heart. I would recommend it to anyone going through tough times because it clarifies that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
