Right now, three. One for pleasure, one for English class (The Great Gatsby), and one for French class (Le Fantome de l'Opera). I try to stick to only one book for pleasure reading at a time, though, ever since I read two or three Nancy Drew books at the same time and got the cases all jumbled up in my mind.
Think, believe, manifest.

I tend to read several at the same time (anywhere from 4-7 maybe?). I pick them up depending on my mood but the ones that have been on my nightstand for too long with bookmarks somewhere in them tend not to get picked up again. Usually, though, if I'm in the mood for something else, I will pick up a book mid another book and read that all the way through before returning to the previous book. It's actually pretty easy to keep track of... much like having multiple tabs open in an internet browser or having multiple worlds in my head that I rotate and return to.

I read one at a time. There was one time that I was reading two books at once. I don't remember what the books were or why I did that.

I never read more than one book at a time, I also prefer to read one series at a time.

I only read one at a time. If I read more than one I don't feel like I am giving my full attention to the book and that just isn't right for me.

When I am first trying to decided I will read the first chapter of 3 or 4 books until I decide which I am in the mood for, I can get ADD when trying to pick a book. Then I will read the one that catches my interest until I finish it.

I can read four or five books at a time. I'll generally have a couple of light-reading books that I get through quite quickly, then some heavier stuff which might be a classic, maybe some history or theology on top of that. I'll also read a couple of books on my Kindle and have a couple I'm reading in hard copy. I actually like to read more than one book because what I like to read depends on my mood or how tired I am at the end of the day.

I usually try to read one book at a time. Too many books just means I get distracted and can't appreciate each individual story as much.

Currently I am reading two different books. I usually have two ebooks going one romance and the other mystery and then I read a traditional book. I usually listen to the ebooks while I am driving or doing chores, but I like just sitting down for an hour or two and reading a traditional book.

I will usually read only one book at a time it is easier to keep track of everything going on in the books. However if I am nearing the end of one book I may pick up another one and start the first few chapters before I finish the first one. When I was in college I would usually read two at the same time one for class and another one for fun. The only time U really like to read two is if I am reading historical fiction I will try and find a non-fiction book on the same subject which makes things interesting.
