This book does not seem like my cup of tea, but I do thank you for such a thoughtful review.

The gimmick of a writer bringing a character to life on the page who then interacts with him is really intriguing, but I'm put off reading the rest of the book by the writing style, which reads too much like an unedited flow of consciousness for my taste.
In addition, that is seriously one of the worst covers I've ever seen on a novel.

I love reading & learning about different cultures...but I'm a bit unsure if this is a book that will give me an unbiased, clear depiction of those cultures. Also, having experienced it, I can certainly relate to the concept of isolation...one does not have to live in 2 different countries to know that feeling...it could just be in the next town over!

Thank you for a good explanation of a somewhat confusing book. Perhaps, though, it would've been helpful to mention that it's part of a series!

I read the author's previous book, I didn't really enjoy the writing style.

Looking at the cover, I certainly would never have expected such a deep book. Four stars; the promise of an in-depth look at Israeli culture, history, and politics; and a discussion the author's self-reflection are accompanied by high praise. I'm glad there's a review here to shine such a positive light on this book.

The topic definitely captured me and so did the story. The author was able to bring out strong cultural aspects in the story and I liked that

Don't judge a book by the cover.

The author was able to bring out the cultural and political aspects I think that good thumps up!

A "metaphysical memoir" definitely doesn't sound like something you'd see everyday. Congrats on BOTD - this seems like a unique read.

to be honest, I've never really encountered a writer of his caliber. He appears to me to be a person of split personality though his approach could have been used to add twists and turns to the storyline

It is a book that every one should read. It exposes the evil of alienation degradation and cultural subjugation. A beautiful review.

At first the writer really attracted my attention. This developed a sense of interest to know what really is frustrating Raquel. The idea of creating a woman of real love relieved the tension within me. The book is nice for serious and keen readers

Politics is a good game. I recommend it as book of the month.
