The Last Rival by Kyle Palmer masterfully blends historical fiction with real events, crafting an intriguing narrative around President Truman’s secret “Operation Louveterie” to confront the Nazi threat, led by a compelling team of former OSS operatives.

I may not be the biggest fan of historical books, but this particular book stands out for me. I really loved how the author was able to mix fiction with real events and figures across history. This made it worthwhile to read.

American history has never been a strong subject of mine, but this official review of Truman's special force has got me intrigued. I'm always open to going on a ride full of uncertainty, action and bravery. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

This is a historical fiction book about a group of men. I want to do everything I can to defend my church on the ground. This isn't the type of book I would choose, as it might be a bit of a heavy read for me. But it's a great opportunity to learn a little more about that type of environment.

“The Last Rival: A Time of our Choosing” by Kyle Palmer is a fictional story about President Truman’s strategy for dealing with the Adolf Hitler problem. Truman needs to decisively handle Hitler and his fellow Nazis. I love history and Truman became president when Roosevelt died and this occurred two weeks before Hitler committed suicide in his bunker. While Hitler was gone there were Nazis escaping to many countries around the world and to end their quest for world domination they needed to be found and prosecuted. Truman had his hands full with the Nazis and the Japanese. Once the atomic bomb was approved for use the war with Japan would soon end. The Nazi party has never disappeared and today it is very strong and they are still planning the fourth Reich. The battle with the Nazis across continents continued for many years as the Nazi leadership that escaped were hunted down. No one really knows how many Nazis escaped and were never found. Truman trusted the OSS covert intelligence group to battle for humanity’s soul. While Roosevelt was involved with the other ally leaders, I assume that Truman devoted his time to keeping the U.S. running as smoothly as possible. WWII was proclaimed as the war to end all wars but looking at the world today this proclamation was premature. The evil in the world today is undoubtedly worse than it was during WWII and being on the verge of WWIII that could be the end of our planet long before the devastation of climate change takes its toll. We were very fortunate to have Truman take over when FDR died. He was a tough leader that did not pass the buck or blame others like our current president. I found the sample to be excellent and it motivated me to add this book to my to-read shelf.

I do love to read about event's in the past. Some historical events and figures are well known that you find yourself researching about what really happened. This is my first time coming across President Truman. I have heard about Hitler but not Truman. At the moment I am not interested about him so I am going to skip this book.

The description is indeed catching. This part, "Jim Bolden and Lew Weinman, members of a covert intelligence group, have been entrusted with the deadliest missions: the kind that governments disavow and history never remembers," has me very curious. Thanks for the review!

The rise and fall of Hitler greatly affected the world. I believe this book will help one understand and appreciate what happened in history concerning President Truman's fight against Hitler's actions.
