Thanks for your review! I wonder why someone wanted to hurt Casey. I appreciate that this book portrays homosexuality in a positive light. The love triangle between Mara, Casey, and Derek sounds interesting. I'm curious to see why they allowed Mara to investigate the crime when she was romantically involved with the victim.

This sounds like a great detective story that also addresses some social problems. Nice review!

This novel seems like it has everything required for a successful mystery – great character development, short chapters that both keep the reader engaged and reveal just enough, and plenty of action/drama.

Love seeing an LGBTQ protagonist make book of the day. It’s sad how real violence against the community this is, and I’m glad to see this topic represented in literature.

An absorbing, fast-paced crime novel with a satisfying ending and well-developed characters! Plus, it is well edited! This is my genre, so I just added this book to my TBR list! Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the detailed review! :tiphat:

This genre is not really my type. I think I'll just pass. Thanks for the review.

I would group this book into the captivating mystery thrillers that will keep you absorbed theoughout. I found every chapter short and amazing and I agree with the 4-star rating.

Great review! I love the dual conflict (murder and also acceptance with colleagues). Fast paced with short chapters seems like the perfect summer read for me.

I definitely don't enjoy books that include so much romance. However, it does sound like the mystery side of the book is well-developed. I'm glad you enjoyed this one so much. I am curious about the attempted murder and who the perpetrator was. Thanks for the review.

Sounds like my kind of book. Fast paced mystery revealing the inner workings and relationships within the police department seems interesting. I think I'd enjoy this book. So, thanks for the insightful review.

I like a good mystery page-turner. Detective Bays is romantically involved with Casey. She has previously been romantically involved with her partner, Detective Jensen, so you can fairly say that her situation is not so comfortable. I'm excited to see it this book will catch me too.

Thanks for the review! This seems like an interesting way for the author to discuss sexuality and the biases against homosexuals. I don't think I'll read this book now, but I might come back to it at a later time since I usually enjoy mystery novels.
