I love the idea of the book having two languages. I think that will draw many people to reading it as they can understand one of the languages. Very good thought was put into that.

This book is a magical wonderland for poetry lovers looking to be empowered through the authors struggles so visible in her vivid imagery and diction. In addition to its accessibility to readers in English and Spanish, it displays a life altering journey around the world through the eyes of the author. Great work BOTD!

Poetry, in any language, really isn't my thing. So I'm not in the right demographic for this book. However, here's wishing the author much success in finding an appreciative reading audience.

Poems bring another level to a book. Poetry always intrigued me because it can tell a story that can have different meanings from different people. I would love to hear her experiences from different countries as I travel with my family. The fact that is the writer didn’t surrender is relatable, because not all people can do that. Or maybe they can but it just takes some time.

I don't like reading poems and I don't understand Spanish either. However, from the review and from the title, this seems like a good book. The author as well as the reviewer did a good job on his. Congratulations on BOTD, and best wishes for future projects.

Poems about places, traumatizing experiences and the way the Author overcame them. Short poems with clear and comprehensible words sounds good. The best part being even if someone knows either English or Spanish language, still one can enjoy reading it. Simple and up to the point review.

Ileana Gonzalez Monserrat, a Cuban writer who was a refugee in Spain and the United States, presents us with this collection of poems written in both English and Spanish, Contemplacion: Thoughts and Poems, in which she describes her life throughout this refugee process, as well as various traumas and how he overcame them, something that, although in principle, is really interesting, I would prefer for them a better metric and a higher quality in Spanish.

"Contemplacion: Thoughts and Poems" by Ileana Gonzalez Monserrat is a bilingual poetry collection featuring poems in English and Spanish, reflecting the author's personal journey and experiences. The poems, which are not translations but original works in each language, cover themes like overcoming trauma, reflecting on the author’s experiences with her absent father, and expressing love for various travel destinations, including America and cities in Turkey. The author's use of clear, comprehensible language and her fighting spirit resonate throughout the book, offering inspiration and encouragement. The inclusion of personal photos adds a unique touch. The book's bilingual nature is particularly appealing, offering a rich experience to both English and Spanish speakers, though it's enjoyable even for those who speak only one of these languages.

Interesting choice to mix two languages in one book. I believe poetry is the right type of book for this.
Kudos on the author sharing her experiences, the hardship overcome, the beauty of cities she loved.

Great review! Like many others, I found the idea of having both English and Spanish poems intriguing right off the back. I’d like to think this tactic works whether you speak both languages or not. If you like her poems enough in one language, you’ll want to go out of your way to translate those in the other. This also just may be the sort of push I need to pick up Spanish again. I was pretty good with it back in school and have considered learning to speak it fluently. I sometimes test myself to see how much I remember and it’s always a delight to find that I retained more than I thought. This book could be a useful tool for that as well as discovering some inspiring poems.

Ileana Gonzalez Monserrat's bilingual book of free verse poems, Contemplacion: Thoughts and Poems, reflects the wanderer, fighter, and conflicts in her. It is acknowledged that readers who speak either of the languages will also find enjoyment in the book. Congratulations to the writer on being BOTD!

I have recently started writing poetry and I have used it as a means to cope with my struggle and ground it. From reading your review, this book should be inspiring to me and that too in a dual language. Looking forward to reading this book.
