I'm most grateful you enjoyed the book and hope you go on to read and review Book II in which Selmer Burks plays a much more significant and intense role. Your review was enlightening and richly written. I'm sorry some, as I read above, will not get the chance to read the books, because while violence does take place, I do not resort to extensive, gory, bloody scenes, but briefly try to depict what life was like in the settling of the early American west. I tried to be authentic in my approach without either gratuitous or gory scenes or explicit descriptions of a sexual nature. I am not an exploitive writer, but I try my very best to do the research and write my story as true to truth as fiction can possibly come. I hope those who were put off by some of the comments of the reviewer, while done honestly and with integrity, realize they are opinion, as seen through the eyes of one person. We are all different, and see and feel differently, to a lesser or greater degree, based on our individual reflexive and reactive reactions to what we emotionally feel while viewing a movie or reading a book. I guarantee, anyone reading my descriptions, while some concern violence, are not done for shock effect, but rather to define the person committing the action and his or her motivational makeup and personality, thus showing the inner makeup and very soul of the character in the story. It is my belief, in this way I will thus breathe full life into my fiction. I write this way in the hope my reader will become fully invested in the characters and their lives. I hope they will understand the reasons and events that lead to their deaths, their live, indeed their destinies for both good and nefarious reasons. It's very true that a review is one person's honest, objective review of a book. Other people may have different opinions of the same book. Even bestsellers and books that win prestigious awards often receive different reviews. I think no one views a book in exactly the same way. It sounds like your book is very good!
