Beyond the Golden Door had depth beyond being a memoir. This book explores the cultural aspects of coming to a new country, the obstacles and challenges one might encounter during the process, and explores freedom. Something people often take for granted.

I feel Beyond the Golden Door connects the reader through Master's search for identity and meaning to a level beyond the average memoir I have read.
There were moments where I felt that I, too, was in Master's shoes, especially when it came to the freedom of expression and dealing with family, religion ( in terms of doing what meets the heart), and societal expectations. Master's impeccable ability to express himself, I found related to my own soul rather significantly, despite my rather unique journey. Master deals with some core universal issues that made the experience of his memoir more like a mirror reflection with a power of deep, insightful healing connection.

Definitely! I for one have always wondered about people of other religions and if they ever had the urge to convert and if they did what would the reason be. There is a chance that this book will tip the scales for another person in the same position in favor or converting or not.

Is this question a joke? It definitely does, like are you kidding? I got a front row seat to Ali's experience and it was filled with content, love, freedom and humor. Oh my.
