Thanks for the interesting and insightful review of Nobody Knows by Larry Schneiderman. It certainly encouraged me to give this book a try. I enjoyed the fact that the book was written in first person expressing his thoughts, feelings, doubts, and joys. It gave me pause to think about the impact the teachers made on his young life and how that became a part of who he grew up to be. He seemed to be more like his Father than he realized.

I really liked that he wasn’t a “perfect Christian”. He sinned… a lot. He questioned his faith. He didn’t always go to church. I found this less-than-perfect relationship to be extremely relatable. I’ve found myself asking several of the questions that were asked throughout this book. I’ve done my own sinning, and I’ve questioned my own faith. To me, this book was comforting. It let me know that I’m not the only one who has strayed off of the expected path a bit.

I can certainly commiserate with this, too! At the same time, the Amazon synopsis mentions a secret that Jake is keeping and that he's not the person that everyone thinks he is. I'm very curious as to how this all ties together, so I guess I too will have to read this as time permits. Thanks so much for the introduction!

Thanks for the review. It seems that this contradictory and deceptive character can be interesting, especially if his way of being as a human enters in conflict with his faith. I have read the first pages, and without a doubt, it seems very well written and edited. I think it's worth giving it a try...

I am a fan of first person narrative because I love to really understand people and the reasons their actions. This book sure interest me. An imperfect Christian with his secrets that question both God and his faith. This sounds a lot like me. Thanks for the beautiful review.

My favorite part of the book was Jake’s relationship with God.

I'm not a big fan of godly books but:

I definitely feel that this way of telling a story can make the "medicine" go down! LOL

This book will make an interesting read for someone like me who likes to understand the human psyche. I always did wonder how religious people couped with the guilt that came with sinning. It might be easier for the deeply religious people who are capable of avoiding the major violations of their religion, but for those religious people who continuously violate the sacred covenant of the God they seem to love so much, life must be a difficult and confusing journey.

Books with religious aspects that insist on nothing less than the perfect can be off-putting. From your review I feel that this is a balanced one that shows that, we are on the journey to becoming better people everyday.
