Me and my family went to the beach to spend last summer. Since the place was pretty big. I got lost and I don't know whom I can ask for since the people can't understand english that much. All of a sudden, I thought I saw my dad, so I rushed over him and hugged him as a sign of relief only to find out that's its not my dad. :D I was pretty embarrassed that time that I run immediately.

The best travel experience I had was when I was about 16. We went to India and I was so adamant on not going, I kicked up a hell of a fuss so rooted into my comfy Western way of living and not really caring an iota about my mother's roots or the family she had there. I think my whole family despaired of me but God I was such a moody sulky teenager (absolutely certain that the whole world was out to get me and life wasn't fair - I'd like to really punch my teenage self sometime.)

Anyway I made my displeasure known all throughout the flight, when we landed at Mumbai, the travel to the little village my grandparents are from and for the next couple of days.....then I just fell in love. With the people, their way of life so different to the materialistic world I came from, their hospitality, their joy in the little things (not how many gadgets they have or if they bought the latest fashions but the joy of a summer's day, the love of rain when it came, the simplicity of walking through a park and eating ice cream).

I loved the cultural aspects, the cities were amazing, Mumbai especially - the bazaars and the sites. The Taj Mahal of course was just beautiful, donkey rides at the beach, getting henna tattoos and eating sugar canes and drinking coconut water directly from the coconut. Riding in a rickshaw and maneuvering through nightmare traffic not really knowing if you're going to survive at the end of it, sharing the road with cars and bulls and goats alike. Oh everything was just such an eye opener and I loved every bit of it. I think out of all us, I was the one who really did NOT want to come home! From all the places I've been, it's been the best so far.

When I went to the Worlds Fair in Seattle in 1962. I went with a girl friend, we didnt have a lot of money and slept in campgrounds and on the beach. We were there for a week, and saw some cool stuff. A cell phone, only they didnt call it that. It was as big as a shoebox. And television phones, an air car and some guy with a flying suit. We saw the stripper Sally Rand, and some other strippers, that was cool but my girl friend wasnt too enthused about that. I had a 1951 Ford, it was a pile of junk and had some problems with it, it kept overheating and broke an axle on the way home and we had to walk about 10 miles to get another axle and a can of rear end grease. Luckily, the guy at the junk yard gave us a ride back and the car wasnt too hard to fix. Other than that we had a real good time. In 1974 My wife and I went to the Worlds Fair in Spokane. It was pretty good, but it was more about ecology and stuff like that. Those are good memories.
