I’ve never been a fan of Hemingway as a person, although I do like his writing and admire his granddaughter Mariel. This book could be interesting; change just one part of person’s life, and it could alter in ways you would never imagine. One would hope that this hypothetical daughter could break the supposed love curse, but my vote is just for her to get that dream job and have a long, healthy (including mentally healthy) life. I like the author's portrayal of family values in this book. Despite his marital weaknesses and failures, Hemingway is able to maintain a paternal presence in his daughters life that is vital to her growth and maturity.
