The Ironbark Hill Saga is a story of Natalie's coming-of-age since she has to grow up under extreme hardship and poverty. Despite her stepfather's alcoholic episodic behavior and his resentment towards her, Natalie is determined to make something of her life. Its a story of hope and redemption. Thanks for your review.

The themes that this author firegrounded are fantastic. I also appreciated how the author used vivid description to explain the graphic events in her writing. This book has caught my attention only from the review, and if I have the opportunity and the time, I will definitely check it out. Thanks!

This historical fiction tackles issues on discrimination, poverty, family drama, and virtues. In the 50s, racism was more apparent. The book is more character-oriented, so I may have to skip it because I prefer a plot-oriented story. Congratulations on the BOTD.

This book addresses the Aboriginal community by highlighting the difficulties they faced through the story of Natalie. It's truly an important part of history.

I think this would be too boring for me. I usually read fantasy adventure, this book's plot would bore me so much.

I like that the author captured major societal issues that successfully addressed poverty, discrimination against aboriginal people because of their skin, and farming practices. I think the book is worth reading. Congrats to the author on being the #BOTD!

I want Natalie, her siblings and her mother to achieve freedom from the abusive patriarch of their family. I would love to read this story set in 1950s Australia.

I love stories that narrate life from the perspective of people from a discriminated group. It was interesting to see the character development of Natalie and how she grew to achieve her dreams. Maybe the author could have done more to give life to the story, but the plot is an intriguing one. For Natalie, I understand why freedom from her Stepfather was a dream. Often, the fate of children under such family circumstance is the same, especially when the father is an alcoholic or irresponsible. I am glad Natalie's situation didn't break her gusty spirit but only propelled her to navigate the harsh realities of life.

What an honest and interesting review!
I like novel that ends with a dream come true despite oppositions. This Natalia girl should really be a courageous character. I am adding to my shelf right away.

This review says a lot about the book. Although I struggle to understand the title, I think from the review read, the book somehow justifies the title chosen. I perceive this to be another interesting read.
