I have experienced this many times and I am greatful to God for blessing me with such friends. As far as the book is concerned, I like the way the author mixed up both the storylines, that of Hannah's mother and that of the Lion Princess.The lesson that stood out for me about friendship is that a true friend is like a brother in times of distress
