Guilt is a strong force, and shame is an emotion born of it. This story is a sad one, especially for Sylvia who had to suffer for the crime of her Father. I am glad she eventually found the closure she needed; Salty's action was not only criminal but grossly insensitive. He could have at least made up for his mistake by being there for Sylvia, yet he didn't. The world needs less of Fathers like Salty.

Discards, the name sounds strict. I think I understand it now. The major character in the book had a lot of discards in his life. I think he has a whole lot of experience as well. This book may make a good read.

This is an interesting novel. I wonder what will happen when the father and daughter confronted each other and what happened in their past.
