I first read this series in middle school. I enjoyed it then. I reread them my freshman year of college and I loved them even more. Lewis did a fantastic job creating a magical escape for young and advanced readers alike. I highly recommend this series.

Chronologically yes, The Magician's Nephew is the first book. However, I always read it at the end, and I love how it ties everything together. We finally catch the references to the book and how the wardrobe came to be. I think I like it better as a prequel, and not read first.

The Chronicles of Narnia series is a literary cornerstone, particularly for Christian fiction. C.S. Lewis teaches us the true meaning of Christianity so seamlessly we don't even realize it. The Magician's Nephew is my favorite. It's essentially the Genesis story of Narnia and very engaging. Also, the world-building of this novel is literal, but also something I strive to imitate.

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is such an awesome read. The metaphors in this book are related to Christianity in so many ways. There is great adventure and unbelievable characters, especially Azlen the "King Lion", who to me represents Jesus. I so enjoy the simplicity yet complex meaning in the way the Author, C.S. Lewis, talks about going into a "magical" world of seasons and how the animals and humans communicate to one another. If you are looking for a book of fantasy, different realms of expectations, this is the book for you. Not only is C.S. Lewis the great author of this book, but many others.
