I admit it: I have been known to use "awesome" and "epic" for things that were neither. The appeal? I guess because it is obvious that the event/phrase/whatever is too trivial to be called "awesome" or "epic". So the pairing of trivial with epicness was kind of funny.poomlie wrote:"Awesome" is overused and usually for things that are not at all awesome. It can be like fingernails on a blackboard to hear it bandied about so ubiquitously.
Except, now, it's waaaay overused, dude.

dave3: (Dave has been standing in the same place for 15 minutes with his elbows on the table, doing absolutely nothing.) Hey ryan, what do I need to do so I can head on out of here?
ryan: You can sweep and mop the floor.
dave3: Yeaaaa, Well, I don't mop.
ryan: Awesome.
dave3: So that means I can just go.
ryan: I don't care. Do what you want.
dave3: (Stands up.) All right. Then I am out of here.
(Dave remains standing still where he is expecting a response.)
dave3: Hey ryan, I'm going to leave then.
ryan: Awesome.
dave3: Are you pissed off?
ryan: No.
dave3: You seem like you're angry.
ryan: I'm not.
dave3: You are angry. Why are you angry?
ryan: (Silent.)
