This seems to be a very interesting story line. I'm very curious about what went on for the island to acquire it's name and also how Miller ended up with these special glasses. I wonder what other powers they have! I'm not sure this is one that I will be reading though.

There seems to be a lot of characters introduced in the Prologue, and it is good that you mention it gets clearer on all the characters as you read. The book has some scary elements in it, such as voodoo, spirits, and the supernatural. Jonathan and Callie's choosing to go to "The Island of the Dead" for their honeymoon doesn't sound like the best choice. I prefer reading books in a series in order.

I added this book to my not interested in reading shelf because I would be bothered without the details as you mentioned was lacking. I do think the plot is really interesting though and the supernatural and mystery elements enhance the story. I would have liked to hear that there was more romance in this story.

Supernatural elements, Voodoo, Gold-rimmed glass that would help Detective Jonathan Miller clear his name... It looks like a book that will keep you engaged. I read the sample of the book and I believe the book needs another round of editing as suggested by the reviewer. Congrats to the author for winning BOTD.

I read the sample, and I was so confused by the opening so thank you for your review because it cleared up the muddy waters. I didn’t realize this was a sequel, so now it makes sense. I don’t think it’s the book for me. Without having read the first one, I just don’t like jumping into the middle of a story. Thank you for this helpful review!

I enjoyed reading this review. While this book may be a easy quick read, I don't think I would choose to read this one. I don't like to start in the middle of a series and I am just not a fan of voodoo or supernatural activity in stories. I usually get lost trying to understand the happenings and lose sight of the story. Thanks for a great review!

Even though the supernatural elements to this tale sound good, I don't care for stories that involve people having to prove their own innocence. Add to that that this is far from the first book in the series, and I'm just not interested. Thanks for the great review, though!
