Yes, when I think of violent leadership the first thing that pops into my mind is war. Really wars of any kind. But I am interested in reading of a non-violent yet violent force taken to achieve goals and success in life. The title is very striking and appealing. I also like the fact that the author just does not speak of his success about also tells of his failures in getting to where he is on life.

I read the sample pages and found myself thinking that I have read SO many of these books in this genre that I don’t think I can read this one. Like you, I noticed the hyphenated words like passionate, and I didn’t understand the point of it. I’m a bit too worn out on this type of topic. Thanks for the insightful review. It helped me to make a decision to let this one go for now.

Thank you for the thorough review! This sounds like a book that could be enlightening if business and leadership are what you are pursuing. I don't think I will be putting this one on my list though, as I am not the biggest fan of these types of books.

As a millennial, I really wish the author wouldn't stereotype us into one group because we are not all the same. For instance, I have a very strong work ethic and I enjoy talking to people of all ages. Yet other millennial's I know have a lazy, entitled mentality that ruins everything they try to do professionally and they only talk to other millennial's. We are not all the same, people.

I'm also surprised the author even mentioned millennial's in the workplace, because of all the age groups, we have the highest rates of unemployment despite the fact that many of us have masters degrees and even PhD's! I guess I can say, thanks for assuming we all have full time jobs with decent pay?
The exact same things crossed my mind. I suppose it's written from his experience with certain workers, but it is still incredibly frustrating.

Good review. This is not type of book I would just pick up. It sounds as though it gives a lot of good advice on how to pursue a leadership that is going to take over and achieve. I’ll add this to my list as I can always use help improving my leadership skills.

Non fiction books are not my cup of tea but I read the review and find the book rather informative full of real-life example of the author's own experience. It was interesting to get the definition of the term "violent leadership" because when I read the title I imagined a completely different picture. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Just by seeing the book title I had really high hopes about this one. But by seeing that it is just another self-help book, I decided to pass on it. Anyway, congratulations on being BOTD

Violent Leadership by Wesley Middleton is a plausible book that combines real world experience with management skills. It's a must read for business minded people who aspires to be at the top of business ladder with their hands in their pockets. However, the book is rife with little typo or grammar flaws. "... @ the definition of violent, the author innovate instead of innovative"

With this and other unmentioned errors, I score it 3 out of 4.

A good job from Middleton!

Quite some time since i saw your review. It is encouraging to see that violent leadership is described as a resolute, firm and focused. We all have made mistakes in the past and this book can deliver us from such.

With that said, I do appreciate the energetic nature of this book. I think that the term "violent leadership" can certainly be misleading to the average reader at first, but as they delve into the details of what "violent leadership" is, the idea of "violent leadership" can certainly be an idea that everyone benefits from.
I was about to argue the very same thing. Thank you for bringing this up, I am so tired of reading material that just stereotypes millennials.

I hope this book does not disappoint by stereotyping millenials because the premise sounds good. Congrats on BOTD.

The title of the book caught my eye and I did think of the examples that you mentioned in your review. I think that instead of using the term violent, the author could have chosen passionate or innovative. In my opinion, there is no good connotation to the word violent nor should there be. I like that the author talks about setting the temperature or climate of your business, but assigning people to their correct roles sounds weird to me.

It's great that the author wants readers to avoid making the same mistakes he did. Also glad that he defined violent leadership. Good review.
