Assassination of children is such a cruel and heartless thing to do. I wonder how the parents felt but am glad that Lara and Uri are there to put an end to such terrorist attacks.

Winnick's adept portrayal of characters, particularly the fiercely independent and capable FBI agents Lara and Uri, adds depth to the narrative. The book skillfully addresses issues like religious-motivated terrorism, Iran's nuclear threat, and Russia's complex role in the plot, providing an enjoyable thriller with international affairs woven into its fabric. Nice review.

Jack Winnick has truly come through for the book. His talents are undeniably exceptional. Lieutenant Henderson is called on his way out of a doughnut store to come and assist at a pre school nearby by a traumatised woman. Without explanation he follows the woman to a room full of Jewish children five of them beheaded and their heads in another corner. Thank God he threw away his doughnut on his way there.

The start of the book really highlights some religious aspects and political influences some countries encounter. I was reminded of the kidnapping of girls in Nigeria by the Boko Haram a few years ago which caused a worldwide attention and hashtag #BringBackOurGirls.

The amazing and beautifully competent Lara is back and being assisted by his flame Uri. This brings the suspense and intrigue to the tone of the thriller. Warmth is also introduced by their rekindle and I must say it is amazing. There's nothing like a clean romance between partners at work. The risk is everything to live for.

The book chapters are long and that does make the reading quiet tiring. The characters analysis and descriptions were accurate and It made it easy for me to view every character as though I am watching a movie. As the book unfolds the main characters come at play and we cant help but wonder the mystery between them and the mystery of the unsolved case too and that for me was good. Perfect editing skills were demonstrated also.

More dialogues would be appreciated and less narrating and explanations. That also brings characters to life and we will be able to decipher what kind of a character a person is by just hearing their speech. A 4 out of 5 rating for me on this one.

Thanks for your insightful review of “Devil in False Colors”. The way you described the blend of factual geopolitical contexts with the fictional narrative really piqued my interest. It sounds like Jack Winnick has crafted a thriller that not only entertains but also educates and provokes thought about contemporary international issues. Your note on the potentially controversial aspects is appreciated—it’s always good to know when a book might challenge one’s perspectives. I’ll definitely add this to my reading list!

The novel's best feature which is the geopolitical outlook seems similar to what happened in current affairs now. Should be interesting to learn from it while being immersed in the story.
