Is Historical Fiction Growing in Popularity?

Please use this forum to discuss historical fiction books. Common definitions define historical fiction as novels written at least 25-50 years after the book's setting.

I believe it is, I've seen many more historical fiction books in publishers "spotlights" & such.

Also, I hope it is! I'm hoping to homeschool my son amd historical fiction brings the past to life in ways that textbooks can't. So yeah, one of you should start writing that historical fiction about 9/11, because I'll be ready to read it to my son in about 8 years.

As time goes on, there is more history to write about so it makes sense that historical fiction is growing in popularity. I'm curious to see how in 50 years or so authors can portray everything going on nowadays as "historical fiction."

I've been told that it is currently on the upswing overall. For a history nut like myself, it's been great to see that in print but also on TV. It's such a risk for a network to put together a historical fiction TV show due to the high costs, so I always cringe when they put something out that I actually like.
