What a well-written, beautiful review! Although this book isn't for me, it sounds like a great read for history lovers. Based on the review, I will be recommending it to a few people I know.

Although I like the idea of the family biographical notion, it emphasizes a battle scenario, which is not to my taste. Nevertheless, I think a lot of people will read the in-depth evaluation. a really accurate evaluation.

The book's ability to evoke emotions and its message of holding steadfast to one belief is remarkable. Kalman's story is a testament to the strength of faith and resilience in the face of adversity. Well-written review. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Near the Danube Bridge is an outstanding tribute to the strength and perseverance of the Hartig family. Catherine Allen-Walters' portrayal of Kalman's unwavering faith and resilience is truly inspiring.

Near the Danube Bridge" by Catherine Allen-Walters intrigues me. And I think I'll be adding it to my collection. I love reading the stories of people who had dreams they believed in and fought for. Though not an easy feat, but the life and story of Kalman is a great lesson and encouragement that teaches courage and resilience to stand by your faith and fight for the values you believe in even when it is threatened.

I wonder why Kalman was tortured for his faith and why he was imprisoned. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of biographies or nonfiction, so I'll pass on this book.

Definitely not my cup of tea, because I am both - not a religious person and dislike biographies as a genre. I understand that during a crisis many seek salvation in faith, but it is against my nature to rely on divine intervention. Congrats with BOTD, anyway!

To be put in a situation where you must choose between your father and mother's religion is complex. How much more will your decision determine if you remain a free man? Your detailed review helps me understand what to expect from this book. I will look forward to it.

Near the Danube Bridge by Catherine Allen-Walters is a family biography researched by the protagonist, Kalman's daughter. Kalman was a role model and from the sampled pages, I was inspired to read his story.

Thank you for sharing your thought for this book! As the child of Ex-Yugoslavia refugees stories about war and escape are always very emotional for me. I like how you described your feelings while reading this book and how you picked out some points.

This is a moving biography about two families in former Yugoslavia and their struggles through WWI and WWII, and the communist rule of Yugoslavia. I like that the daughter employed an author to write her parent's biography and appreciate the level of effort to research further to flesh out the work.

I’m looking forward to digging into this novel to find out how Kalman Hartig will be able to address the difficult challenges brought about by having to choose between two denominations and the repercussions in choosing one over the other. Will he regret his choice?
