'Official Review: The Hotel Detective and his Lover' by Derek Picot presents an elaborate and complete picture of the action thriller story of the book for readers. I love how the reviewer explores the main ideas of the book. The point that readers would find a cavalcade of clandestine meetings, illegitimate children, cover-up stories, betrayals, and illicit payments is worth mentioning in the review. The elements of suspense and dry humor are remarkably interwoven in the story. Also, as mentioned in the review, the book is a riveting thriller with countless twists and turns and a surprising ending. It was great to learn that all the characters are realistically portrayed regardless of their episodic or main role in the story!

Richard Marker, the Chief Security Officer at London's Adelphi Hotel, faces a range of challenges, from petty theft to more serious crimes like kidnapping and murder. When a hostile takeover bid involving the Adelphi's Chairman, Sir John Bulling, emerges, Marker and Sandrine-a lady he harbors feelings for- find an opportunity to collaborate.

Derek Picot's "The Hotel Detective and his Lover" unfolds as a thrilling mystery with numerous plot twists and a surprising conclusion. The novel maintains a gripping pace with unpredictability of the story, offering a cascade of betrayals, illegitimate children, and cover-up stories that will appeal to fans of action and suspense.

Recommended for thriller and murder mystery enthusiasts, the novel contains occasional profanity, explicit scenes, and graphic violence, making it more suitable for mature audiences.

It looks like an interesting mystery novel with murder and romance thrown in, however, I may avoid it due to the profane language. Thank you for your in depth analysis!

Thank you for the great review. I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much. It did seem to have many interesting characters and the descriptions of the people and settings were very detailed like you said. I'm sure many who enjoy thrillers will enjoy it. I believe I will pass on it though since it just didn't "grab" me.
