End of the Last Great Kingdom is the debut novel by Victor Rose and the first book in The Brimstone Chronicles. This is a dark fantasy novel with a lot of expedition and action. The story dives into the world of the elves, the humans, and the orcs. Each of the race maintains its distinct purpose to adapt to their environment. And the life of a young mage without magic was explored in Sulphurium.

An orphan boy was so "lanky" and looked three years younger than his age. He had no recollection of whom he was, even to the point of not remembering what his name was. He was mockingly called Leaf by the school, and the fact that he needed a miracle to pass all the challenges to becoming a mage made him unhappy. For these reasons, he took upon himself a challenge that no one has survived for 100 years to prove his worth.

Moreover, Leaf later became the Mage Brimstone. He began a journey of self-discovery and in the process tried to solve various crimes with his friends (Heat and Neutron). They named their group Crimson. Due to envy, Brimstone became a target for the advanced students because of his name, and how he got it. The Order framed him for the death of the students at his school. How Brimstone survived this propaganda was a miracle.

I love reading this kind of book. This book prompts me of a Korean drama I saw titled Moorim School as it has the same magic school theme. There are several things I admire about this book. The author narrated the story in such a way that the reader is captivated even from the introduction. And there were so many life lessons to learn from this book. For example, I learnt never to underrate anyone, and that determination is the key to success. I loved how the author fleshed out Brimstones character; it was difficult not to love him as he was selfless and so efficient even in his inexperience. The author portrayed the protagonist in a professional way. Furthermore, the character development was natural and consistent.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I was so in love with it that I couldn’t find any faults. It is flawless and well-written. The story is fascinating. Therefore, I would recommend this book to fans of dark fantasy and magic. However, I would not encourage teenagers younger than 15 years to read this book because of the descriptive violence and sexual assault.

This does sound like a typical fantasy novel but I think it's one I'd like to read. Great job with the detailed review!

While it sounds interesting, it simply doesn't pique my interest. Sounds similar to many other fantasy books out there. Thanks for the wonderful review!

Sounds like nice fantasy novel. Brimstone looks like he could teach us a few lessons in determination and not to underrate anyone. Great review.
