Demon Freaks is a fantastic novel written by J.R.R.R (Jim) Hardison.
Bing and Ron Slaughter, along with their school friends; Katilyn Krimpsen and Meat Kimitri, fell into a horrifying adventure the night before their SAT tests. A couple of drama including the Servants of Darkness, a possessing dagger, and evil golfers, the four friends find themselves lurking into a whole new world of supernatural beings. Surprisingly, their least favourite history professor, Mr. Brom seemed to be a part of all the chaos they were dealing with. The evil golfers wanted to summon a demon, with the help of who, they would rule the world. In order to summon a demon, they needed a body to sacrifice with the dagger. Unfortunately, Meat and Katilyn became the victims of the golfers’ unruly act.
Trapped in a stony cave, helpless and confused, Katilyn and Meat’s fate rested upon the Slaughter brothers who were, till then, out of sight of the golfers. In-between their quest, Bing and Ron came face to face with a secret organization, McODD, which worked against the demon freaks. They too were trying to help the two young victims but were unable to get inside Golfers Association Clubhouse. Will Bing and Ron ever be able to save the lives of their beloved friends? And will they give the SAT tests the following morning?
It all started with a thunder. Next, the storm came and after that, lives became at stake. The thing I liked most about the novel was the curiosity dooming upon the end of every page. It kept me glued to the pages of the book and it was hard to pause in between. The magic spells used in the book were appealing too.
I particularly liked the way characters were shown in the story. Spit-Flecked Brommy was my least favourite character and I mentally beat him up through most of the story. Other parts I liked very much were the last few chapters. They were extraordinary and mind-blowing. Last but not the least, the song which Ron wrote after a lot of thinking and trouble, was by far the best and I certainly cannot deny the hilarious habits of Katilyn Krimpsen. She could never be able to get rid of her custom of being late…
I think supernatural, fantasy, horror and adventure stories lovers particularly would be interested in reading this book. I personally feel that this book is a huge success. It was well edited and fault proof. So, I would like to rate this book 4 out of 4.
