People, politics and power is a television programme I enjoyed watching when I was a kid. The spirit of want really sprouts these three areas into life, together with our codes of conduct upon which we are judged.

Religion, science and politics have their ways in which they affect our life. Williams H. Coles must have done a great deal of research, having combined his medical experiences with law and religion into writing.

Luke Osbourne is an opthalmic surgeon who married the daughter of his mentor, A.J, after a moribund encounter. Luke and Lucy had great moments together but soon turn to a mist. Lucy is a defense lawyer who is always obsessed with her job. Hower's case proves to be a turning point in her marriage as she repeatedly cheat and soon elope with him to Africa, leaving her only daughter, Jennifer, behind.

Never underestimate the power of an ambitious man . This is true in the case of A.J, who is ready to go to the end to defend himself, all because he has people in power to cover his unethical operations. This create a vendetta with Luke and loss of job unworthily of a worker.

For Jennifer's sake and proper care, Luke moves in with Elizabeth, Lucy's half sister, whom he later married after Jennifer's death. Soon, chaos, mistrust and misadventures capture Lucy's life till she ends up fighting for her life.

Who could say no to such a book? Starting with the title, the spirit of want, it is such a fitting title. Humans have wants. In this intrigued story, Luke wants to be loved and appreciated, Lucy wants to be a successful lawyer and have an entertaining lifestyle, Bain and A.J want more power, money and control.

But what I mostly appreciated is that the characters are introduced at the right time with some details about them. I find it hard to dislike any elements in the story. The names of the characters, the plots and settings are perfect.

The spirit of want is rated four out of four stars. I would have rated it three but Cole tactfully made the questions about God a self, faith believing contest. He obviously didn't try to make any reader share his thoughts about God's existence and miracles.

Virtually everybody will find this book appealing. Are you a career person or involved in politics and religion? Then, this is an opportunity to make a difference. Not everything is black and white as it offer some twists and turns.

As for typo errors, I only found Jennifer wrongly spelt as Jenifer in chapter 16, but this has no effect on my ratings.

No doubt, there are a few traces of erotic scenes, and in my opinion, are somehow sensitive. Still, I give credibility to William, for making it less mild.
