Question about Root Canal

I just found out that I need to have a root canal done. Fortunately, the tooth is dead, so I'm not feeling any pain. Anyway, I was prescribed a week's worth of penicillin in order to clear up the infection. However, my root canal has been scheduled for next Tuesday, and I'll still be in the middle of taking the penicillin. I wanted to know if it was safe to have a root canal done while still in the middle of taking antibiotics. The woman I talked to on the phone didn't seem to act like it was a problem. She just asked whether I was taking antibiotics due to pre-existing heart conditions or artificial limbs. However, she wasn't that clear on if it was OK to be in the middle of taking a course of penicillin at the same time as I have my root canal. If anybody could tell me what the deal is with that, I'd really appreciate it.

This is hardly the forum for medical queries .... surely you should be talking to you doctor and/or dentist.
