The Witch of Portebello

Post by Anumalhotra »

One of my favorites; thanks to my predilection towards reading books on philosophy and mysteries of life. Written by Paulo Coelho, it comprises of chapters as told from the point of view of different protagonists, who are related to the lead character, Athena in some way or the other. It is through these tale-tellers that we come to know about who Athena was, what powers she had, and how did she employed her magic to evoke greater powers. Athena is always on a look to a better meaning to life: she wants to know about the mysteries of nature, and employing her knowledge to make the lives of others better. One thing that the reader needs to do is to interconnect the many versions of Athena's story, as told by others. This is due to the lack of continuity in chapters. Dancing and calligraphy have been used as the tools to open the doors to self-realization.
