Review by Antonette_Molopa -- Midwinter Turns to Spring
The presence of a well constructed, deeply intoxicating and phenomenally soul capturing story is delivered by Midwinter Turns To Spring. The beauty of Maria Veloso's work is seen in the prolonged love that is maintained despite distance or time. The spiritual depth and emotional intensity is introduced by the incorporation of poetry, art and music.
What starts off as the discovery of a 26 year old journal by an ambitious Cassidy Hamilton turns into the resurfacing of old, hidden truths, deeply infested with love. Inside the journal area little snippets of a love affair that conspired between a woman that lived in the same Victorian apartment as Cassidy 26 years ago, Savannah Curtis and her Spanish lover, Alfonso Madrigàl. The innocent authentication of a Picasso painting brews into a world of inexplicable feelings between Alfonso and Savannah. Their paths collide intensively, leading to neglected desires and feelings.
Midwinter Turns To Spring proves to ignite a sense of hope, even within the characters. An exceptionally executed story, void of any typing or grammatical errors, with a sincere nature of love. The incorporation of music and art present a deeper connection in connotation to love. Though the book is indeed perfectly executed, I personally believe it goes into waves and waves and waves of explanations that make it hard for the reader to not want to skim through the detailed explanations. Despite that, I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone.
With such an exceptional storyline, Midwinter Turns To Spring is more suited for an individual that has a deeper understanding for all unseen things. More precisely, this heartfelt novel is targeted at broken hearts that still have hope for love-enriched days. It portrays the image of long-lasting love without any boundaries, seeking an emotionally engrossed soul that has a spiritual connection. So if you're captivated by stories that have a deep emotional and spiritual connection, not forgetting how romantic it is, then this is the novel for you.
And for reasons that are only disclosed upon reading the book, amongst those listed above, Midwinter Turns To Spring gets four out of four stars. Proving to be a flawless book, Maria Veloso managed to create a connection between the reader and the characters. Not only can it bring tears to one's eyes but the intense conversations between the characters create a sense of awakening for the reader. What was once thought to be love is only just an illusion or a theory. I repeat, because of its perfect state, Midwinter Turns To Spring really deserves four out of four stars.
