Review by Browlyns -- The Hand Bringer
The Hand Bringer by Christopher J. Penington is a wonderful piece of work. Traversing modern and ancient times, this piece of work will leave you with a feeling of nostalgia and excitement of anticipation.
Peter Hadrian’s patrol car is parked on an empty property; the night is cold and silent. Suddenly, his radio comes alive, two officers have been killed in the area near peter. They were investigating a disturbance. Arriving at the scene, Peter faced by a creature he had never seen before neither had he believed that it existed. It does not flinch to bullets and its abilities surpass that of a normal human being. In the ensuing battle, Peter manages to kill the monster but not before its fangs sink in his neck. This incident is going to attract the attention of a secret government organization. Will he survive the brutal bite from the vampire? Will he be infected with the vampire virus? In addition, what measures will the government organization take to prevent the vampire disease from spreading and where did the vampire come from?
The most liked part of this book is the author’s attention to detail. A lot of attention is focused on the action-description and to the setting of the book giving the reader an opportunity for an intense vivid imagination. The language employed is very rich and advanced that it added to the excitement of reading this book. The vocabularies used here made me appreciate the author's mastery of language. The build-up of the story is perfect with visits to the seers, visions and predictions. The author is able to enhance anticipation and fear of what will befall the characters, this, in turn, increased the excitement and concentration in the book.
The characters are well developed and lively, each unique in his or her character trait. They are so real that it was easy to share their emotions. They are enhanced by a well-formed dialogue, which highlights their characters even more. The ending of this book is impeccable; while a substantial part of the plot is solved at the end, the author still finds room for suspense. I was left satisfied with the ending but still, questions lingered about what is about to happen in the near future, this opens the door for another book.
There is no least liked the part in this book, although it contains minor errors, it did not affect the flow of the story. It is high-paced and well-edited, for this reason, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. This book is very graphic and violent hence, it will not appeal to young readers and people who are sensitive to violence. For lovers of vampire material and other underworld content, this book will suit you well.
