[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Snowballs from Mars" by Mark Gillespie.]

“Snowballs From Mars” by Mark Gillespie is a fictional book consisting of a compilation of short stories with a horror twist. It comes across as a thriller, however I found myself unable to put it down once I started to read each story. They are not connected in plot, however they all have a horror film quality to them.

The short stories vary in length with the average being about 20 pages in length. The scenes are set early and quickly by the author and the suspense is always right around the corner. I would recommend the book for someone interested in reading fictional horror stories, but not wanting to be tied down to an entire book to get into the juicy stuff. The stories quickly bring the reader up to speed on the plot and then takes you along as you might suspect, with suspense and horror right on the next page. There was not too much gruesome details, which I thought was a good thing.

If I had to improve one thing, it would be in the length of some of the stories. There were at least two short stories, which were very short and ended too quickly and seemed like they were added in between the good ones. Overall, the short stories that were longer in length.

If you want to read a set of short stories with thriller-suspense plots, than I would recommend this book. I give the book 4 out of 4 stars. It is worth reading for both fiction and non-fiction readers. I am more of a non-fiction, war novel type reader, so that is why I feel this book was so good. I found that reading the short stories were better than investing all the time and effort into reading an entire book to get to the suspense and plot development, which I could get quicker in this format.

I would recommend that the book be expanded to be a sequel and more of these types of books be written. The short story format, which had each story separate and not connected in any way, is good to get your thriller-suspense fix in less than 20 pages of reading.
